The WestSide Collaborative seeks to address the marginalization of the WestSide Neighborhood residents due to the concentration of power held by entities and individuals other than the residents themselves.
Why we exist
We believethat as residents, you have the skills and assets to create positive change and build a stronger community.
We believe our schools are the building blocks for our future and our community.
We believein knocking down barriers that keep students and their families from considering education past High School.
We believe in providing equal opportunity to receive quality education no matter your race, ethnicity or economic background.
We believe that we can better support the WestSide community when we listen to you and partner together.
We believe in elevating the voice of you, the residents.
We believe everyone should have a community that supports them.
We envision a WestSide Community marked by Equity, Inclusion, and Hope.
To engage and empower residents and organizations to act on self-determined community issues.
We connect to you as residents of the WestSide community, to build your networks, foster positive interactions with other neighbors, get you plugged in and empower you as a community.
We believe in utilizing local assets and resources as the catalyst for change.
We coach families at Harrison Park Elementary, Westwood Middle and Union High School to excel in their education and pursue 2 or 4 year Vocational or University Degree beyond High School through the Challenge Scholars scholarship.
We invest with our local public schools to erase the disparity gaps around education around race and economic status. We’re in the public elementary schools supporting student’s education specifically around improving 3rd grade literacy.
We partner as organizations focused on the WestSide community to leverage residential assets, organizational networks and resources and local businesses for greater impact in tackling the challenges facing our the community.
We advocate for you when navigating systems, searching for housing or jobs, and we help catalyze grassroots efforts for change. As the WestSide community grows and develops it is important for all residents to publicly engaged the impact of this change on the community.
